A lot of people call us to ask how to get rid of bees. We are experts at bee rescue in Ventura County, and we would love to show you! We safely collect bees without harming them, and take them to our local apiaries where they can live natural and happy lives in our beekeeping operation. All of our honey, wax, and pollination is supported by our live bee removal service.
Live bee removal is an extremely specialized trade. Most beekeepers know very little about bee removal, and they know even less about construction or demolition. Often times bee removal isn't even covered under regular beekeeping insurance. If you have bees on your property you need a bee removal expert. All of our staff are bee removal specialists, and can ensure not only that the bee removal is done right, but also partner with local handyman and construction companies to ensure that any and all repair costs will be kept to a minimum.
We perform live bee removals across all Ventura County including Westlake, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Oxnard, Ventura, Ojai, Somis, Moorpark, Simi Valley, and more!
Poisoning hives not only kills one of our most important pollinators, but it also leaves all of the wax, pesticide, and honey behind. This can leave you with a terribly sticky, toxic, and expensive mess that will attract more bees and make your problems worse until it is all removed and dealt with properly.
Pest control companies are often not completely honest about what a bee removal costs. Bryan used to work in pest control, and spraying the bees often costed around $200 to kill the hive, and then around $800 more to clean up the mess they made. This bee removal method eliminates a valuable natural resource, kills innocent insects needlessly, and places hazardous materials into the environment and into your home.
We are bee enthusiasts, and by using our live bee removal service you’re preserving the life of beautiful insects which are critical to our food production and ecosystems. Each bee removal project is completely unique, therefore pricing for our live bee removal service is quoted individually on a custom basis. Colonies of bees grow from a brand new problem into an established problem in as little as one month, and they grow rapidly from there. Removing the bees as soon as possible means less work for the beekeeper, an easier transition for the bees, and lower pricing for you. Dead bees from pesticide application
When bees are ready to reproduce the queen will lay a brand new baby queen to replace her, and the colony will begin to send out scouts to look for a new home. These scouts find new locations, and come home to tell all their sisters. The sisters then look, return, and tell their sisters. This part of the process before the bees move in is called "Scouting." Scouting is very easy to fix since the bees haven't moved in yet. Typically we just use some simple deterrents and sealing methods to make sure that the location they are looking at doesn't become a permanent home. We charge $260 for an exclusion and $260/hr for an expulsion.
Once the scouting party is complete and the baby queens are about to hatch the old queen takes half the adult bees in the colony to go find a new home. This process is called "swarming." On their way to the new location the queen can get tired and stop on a branch to rest. The bees then ball up around her and take care of her for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Because of this, if you find a new swarm, and it isn't going inside of something, we typically recommend that you leave them alone for up to four days. If the bees are still there, or they find themselves in a bad location we are happy to relocate them. Our fee for a new problem is usually $260.
Once the bees have moved in and had some time to establish themselves it becomes critical to not only remove the bees, but also their comb and honey. The worst part is the bees can establish themselves in just a few weeks. Once the bees have comb and babies the only way to remove the bees is to remove all the comb and bees by hand. If the bees have moved into your home this means that the cavity must be opened and cleaned out. We typically charge $600 flat for one story colonies and $1,200 for two story colonies. We are not licensed contractors, so our price does not include repairs.
Sometimes opening a structure simply isn't possible. In these cases we have one last tool in our disposal. We can do what is called a trap out. A trap out is when we seal all the holes leading to the hive but one, and put a cone made of screen over the entrance. This cone makes it so that the bees can exit, but not enter back into the colony. Over time the bees eventually either move into our box we set nearby, or completely take off. This method of bee removal typically takes 2-8 weeks.
